S for Good

shyfts.work’s social pledge

Opportunity should not depend on where you start.

shyfts.work exists to help people keep learning as work changes. Through S for Good, we will direct 25% of our annual profits to charitable initiatives that support young people aged 16–22 from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

The focus is simple: more access to learning, more support from mentors, and more confidence to take the next step.

Our pledge

A long-term commitment, reported with care and transparency.

Access to possibility

Talent is everywhere. Access is not.

Young people can have ability, curiosity, and ambition, yet still miss out on the learning, networks, encouragement, and practical experience that help them move into good work. shyfts.work wants to help close part of that gap.

01

Access

Help young people reach learning, tools, and experiences that can open a path into further education or work.

02

Guidance

Support mentoring, role models, and practical encouragement at the point where confidence can make a real difference.

03

Pathways

Back initiatives that connect learning to realistic next steps in technology and other changing fields of work.

The commitment

25% of annual profits for opportunity.

shyfts.work pledges to direct 25% of its annual profits to charitable initiatives that help young people aged 16–22 from lower socioeconomic backgrounds learn, build confidence, and move towards meaningful work.

We will focus on charitable initiatives with a clear connection to education, mentoring, digital access, career exploration, practical learning, or pathways into work. Where more than one initiative meets these requirements, shyfts.work will favour those with the strongest Recall alignment score.

The annual allocation will be determined after shyfts.work’s financial year is complete and annual financial information is approved. The commitment is to the purpose, the percentage, and clear reporting—not to unverified numbers.

How the commitment will work.

  1. Close the year

shyfts.work completes the financial year and confirms its annual profit position through its normal financial process.

  2. Set aside 25%

shyfts.work calculates the amount linked to the 25% pledge and identifies the charitable allocation.

  3. Assess and support initiatives

shyfts.work reviews eligible initiatives against the S for Good purpose and favours those with the strongest Recall alignment, subject to human due diligence.

  4. Report openly

shyfts.work publishes an annual update on the amount allocated, the initiatives supported, and the outcomes that can be responsibly shared.

As shyfts.work grows, the commitment grows with it.

What S for Good will support.

Learning access

Charitable programmes that give young people better access to learning, digital tools, and practical experiences.

Mentoring and confidence

Initiatives that create access to role models, trusted adults, mentoring, and the confidence to keep going.

Pathways into work

Programmes that help young people explore careers, build practical skills, and take a realistic next step towards work.

The first focus is young people aged 16–22. shyfts.work will learn from charitable partners and communities before deciding where support can do the most good. Eligible initiatives with stronger Recall alignment will be favoured in the selection process.

Recall-aligned support

Stronger Recall alignment receives preference.

S for Good will favour eligible charitable initiatives that score most strongly against the Recall approach to learning. Recall strengthens cognitive muscle through regular practice, first-principles thinking, feedback, and confidence-building.

A high Recall score does not guarantee support. shyfts.work will also consider charitable purpose, safeguarding, fit with the 16–22 age group, practical reach, and responsible use of funds. Final decisions remain human-led.

Four review criteria, each scored 0–3

  • Regular practice

Regular, structured practice that builds confidence over time.

  • Thinking from first principles

Clear focus on independent thinking, problem-solving, or foundational skills.

  • Guidance and feedback

Consistent mentoring, trusted-adult guidance, or a meaningful feedback loop.

  • Pathways and access

A clear pathway for young people aged 16–22 into learning, further study, or work.

Totals from 0 to 12 are grouped as limited, emerging, good, or strong Recall alignment. Scores are used internally to guide a human-led review; they are not published as a ranking of organisations.

Accountability

A pledge should be easy to see and easy to question.

Each year, once the information is available, shyfts.work will publish a short S for Good update. It will explain the annual allocation, the charitable initiatives supported, and what we can responsibly say about the work.

S for Good annual update

Our first public update will be published after shyfts.work completes its first full financial year and confirms its first charitable allocation.
